WAR RELIEF ASSOCIATION
A meeting of the Wellington War Belief Association was held yesterday at the offices of the association, Woodward street. Mr. L. O. H. Tripp presided, and others present were Messrs. A, Macintosh, C. M. Luke, and S. J. Harrison (general secretary N.Z.R.S.A.). An apology for Absence was received from Mr. A.'Veitch. Reports from the Financial, Emergency and Application Committees were received and adopted. The Applications Committee had met on three occasions since the last Execeutive Committee meeting, and during that period of 22 working days 24 applications had been received, comprising 32 claims from men who had not previously approached the committee, and 182 applications from others who had done so. During the period under review the Emergency Committee met on 18 occasions and jdealt. with 75 of the applications receiveu, ia9 jalaims being disposed of, while there ' 66 applications still under action. Che Finance Committee held one ordinary and three emergency meetings since tho executive last met, and in addition to its ordinary function of controlling the financial affairs of the association dealt with 15 applications for assistance by way of loans. Of these, two were old claims and thirteen were new applications. The former were revised in connection '' amendments to the original terms of ruiiiiyment, the amount involved being £215 and the unpaid balance £115 Os Bd. Of the new applications two were approved and the remaining eleven—none of the latter disclosing war disability—were declined. The value of the new applications submitted amounted to £650, whilst the gross total of all the applications under action was £865.
