You can wait until after dinner if you've got something to tell me." "But it's very important." "I suppose you want to say there's a fly in my soup or something like that. I m up to your jokes. Now be quiet until dinner's over." "But " "Hush, or I shall punish you." At last the dinner ended. "Now, my son, what did you want to tell me?" "That you were eating the cherries off mother's new hat. The fruit dish is on the other side of the table."
