CONCLUDING EVENTS KECOBDS BROKEN (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, 27th January. The New Zealand swimming championships concluded to-night, and, as oil previous nights, there was a splendid attendance. Mainly through the instrumentality of Lindsay, Canterbury took the Yaldhurst Shield with 50 points, Otago being runnerup with 29 points. Auckland was third. The War Memorial Shield was taken to Wellington, with a total of 5 points. Lindsay put up a great swim in the 440 yards' championship, and after three laps the other competitors were hopelessly out of it. The champion won as he liked by 25 yards in the record time of smin 28 l-ssee. Miss K. Miller also returned an astonishing time for the same distance, which she covered in 6min 9 2-ssec, 32 seconds under the preivous record. The only other starter, Miss D. Grant, of Auckland, was more than a lap behind when the winner touched. The Wellington flyer, Cameron, had no difficulty with the opposition in the 100 yards intermediate breaststroke event, and although at one stage he was strongly challenged by D. Magee, of Auckland, the champion drew away and won somewhat easily by three yards. Miss Pidgeon was the only competitor in the 220 yards ladies' breaststroke championship, and succeeded in owering the existing record by 4 4-ssec. i Calder had. no difficulty in retaining his v • \ng title, and another Otago man, H. E. V'.'ker, was runner-up. Hicks, of Welling*, n, who was third, gave a good exhibition, but his display lacked the finish of Calder and Walker. At no time was Miss Hood's diving tile in danger, and she won by a substantial margin of points. Results:— 220 YARDS LADIES' BREASTSTROKE CHAMPIONSHIP. Miss G.
