A GAME TO PLAY.
Here; is a game you may play on the sands, or in the country:— Choose a hard, smooth stretch of sand, and dig in your pail so that the top of the pail' is level with the surrounding sand. Then with your spade draw some straight lines at different distances from the pail. The first one should be marked a yard away, the next six feet, and so on. till the last line is about 18 feet from the pail. Now, the game consists of "putting" your bouncer into the pail by the aid of daddy's crook walking stick used as a putter. The little children should start from .near lines, and the older children ftorn the farther lines. ' When you putt you must «o;t raise the ball in the air, but .with a gentle stroke send it smoothly along the sand. Do not hold your stick as you would a cricket bat, but stand straight above it, so that you can look straight down at the crook. Eemember the score, the . winner being he or she who put the ball down the hole in the least number of strokes.
