COMPULSORY SERVICE AMENDMENT (Received 21st January, 3 p.m.) LONDON, 20th January. Tbe Paris correspondent of "The Times" states that the Chamber of * Deputies adopted the Ist November 1930, as the date for the introduction of the one-year period of military service, provided that soldiers, in the event of necessity, are retained with the colours for a further six months. The Bill was adopted by 410 votes to 23.
