Mr. W. Grounds, chairman of the j New Zealand Dairy Produce Control' Board, arrived from the North by the Limited express this morning. The Riii Eev. Dr.' Matthew Brodie, Boman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch, accompanied by Eev. Father J. M'Monagle, returned to Lyttelton yesterday from an episcopal visitation to tne Chatham Islands. Mr. W. Forgan Smith, who holds the office of Deputy Premier of Queensland, is touring the Eotorua and Taupo diatiicts. Ho expects to visit Wellington about the end of the present month. 1 Mr. T. R. Bavin, Premier of NewSouth Wales, is at present visiting the thermal district, and will spend about a week fishing at Tokaanui. He expects to arrive in Wellington on the 31st January. Mr. Bavin is a New Zealandcr, his native town being Kaiapoi. The Prime Minister returned to Wellington this morning after an absence of three weeks, including the holiday season spent at his home in. the North Auckland district. . Sir John Martin-Harvey, prominent in the Canadian Legion of Frontiersmen, was operated upon successfully yesterday for an internal trouble, states a cable message this afternoon fromToronto. A cable, message this afternoon from Brunswick, Georgia, U.S.A., announces the death of 'Mr. Williani Dupont, the powder manufacturer, from heart disease.
