TRENTHAM TRACK NOTES

THIS MORNING'S WORK . A good fall of rain would be welcomed at Treiitham. The grass tracks are very hard, and unless rain falls there will be some sore horses after the first day of the coming meeting. So far no visitors have arrived, and the work this morning was confined to the locals. All the galloping waa done on the plough this morning. The weather was threatening. Catkin, whose feet are still the source of some trouble, sprinted down the straight. He is in good health apart from this trouble. Joy Bird galloped a mile and a quarter.' She ran the last mile in lmin 47sec, the middle half of the journey taking 52sec. Irish Lad went with her for a few furlongs in the middle of the gallop, but she came away in the straight to finish well. She was ridden by her Wellingr^n Cup pilot, S. Wilson. Bourse finished better than Quantum at the end of five furlongs in lmin 6sec, the last half-mile in 53sec. Quantum is still inclined to be sore. Concentrate 11. and Salt Petrel galloped three ftirlongs in 37sec, finishing on terms. Lausanne, who looks particularly well, with a good weight up and under a strong pull, ran half a mile in 50 l-53ec. Cosmetic galloped five furlongs in lmin 4sec, the last half-mile taking 51sec. Par Money took 53sec to run half a mile, and Australis was under a pull to run a similar journey in 54sec. Wild Pigeon, Staghunter, and Shot Silk did easy work on the inside plough. Concentrate and Select dashed over half a mile in 49sec, the smartest efljprt of the morning. Rotowhero, with a good weight up, galloped seven furlongs in lmin 34sec. t Oratrix and Kindle, after galloping the first four furlongs in fllsec, covered a mile in lmin _44sec, a very satisfactory effort. Historic jumped away at the seven-fur-long post, and ran the journey in lmin 32sec. Aro de Val joined him at the fivefurlong poßt, but came away' to_ finish alone in lmin 6sec, his last half-mile taking 51sec. Kentish Lady took 52sec to run half a mile. ■ Royal Game, who looks particularly bright and well, was given good threequarter pace work. Maybe he will be seen to greater advantage if it rains. Ring Boy and Black Mint, having their first gallop since the holidays, galloped a leisurely seven furlongs in lmn 36 3-sscc. Wet Paint and Rolex (a three-year-old by Gold Soult from Misrule) sprinted three furlongs in 379 cc. This was not a bad effort for two very green horses.
