Since yesterday morning an intense anti-cyclone has moved across the southern Tasman Sea and the south of New Zealand, giving rise to rapid increase in barometric pressure and by this morning the barometer was high over the area between Tasmania and the South Island. The southerly winds yesterday extended over the whole Dominion, being fresh to strong on the coast between Akaroa and Castlepoint. The change to soutlierlies was accompanied by dull and misty weather, rain being fairly general south of Castlepoint. The forecast anticipates south-easter-ly winds north of Wcstport and Akaroa, with southerlies elsewhere. Dull and unsettled weather may be expected, with scattered showers and cool temperatures, the West Coast of the South Island, however, experiencing fair to fine weather.
Tn the Magistrate's Court yesterday, Edward Williams was convicted and discharged for striking Henry Edward Green.
