BROADCASTERS PRAISED
Mr. E. Leslie Jones, hon. secretary of the Wellington Amateur Eadio Society, writes:—"l have been' approached by several members of our society to publicly offer their best thanks to the Broadcasting Company for the exceptional work done by station 2YA in connection with the broadcasting of news relative to the Tasman flight, i. "We can now appreciate the fact more vividly that Wellington's high-powered Pacific station can, and no doubt will, on many occasions, serve the community to the full in time of national or other disaster. Whilst I personally did not hear the news broadcasted, I am credibly informed that every particle of news received by tho announcer was faithfully put through the 'mike,' and although items of news were possibly forwarded in earnest to those in charge at Trentham, it hardly seems fair and reasonable to accuse the announcer of mis-statement of fact or of being over zealous, and particularly so in respect to exaggeration. I know tho announcers too well to believe that they are so crazy as to add opinions of their own in connection, with such serious matters as that under review. We have all had a 'kick' at the Broadcasting Company—and possibly not without good reason; but the company, and particularly the staff, are deserving of the thanks of the large number of listeners in th^e Pacific."
