All basements and ground Hours in the danger zones havo been evacuated, and the police are patrolling the embankment. .Shelter and food have been provided for the temporary homeless. (Several relief funds have been opened. At midnight large crowd* of sightseers from the theatres and parlies assembled on the Embankment. The river was high, but hijjh water wat safely passed without (he floods t*> eurrinj; anywhere.
