The management of the l)e laixo Theatre announces that it Is impossible id turtln r extend tho season of "Ben Hur," as the film must leave Wellington on Friday night's sleamer to connect will) its bookings in the Mouth Island. Therefore only four more opportunities to see the great picture remain, as the season must dennitely close with next Thursday evening's screening. Saturday evening's crowded house received the production with enthusiasm. The atmospheric prologue was much appreciated, the singing uf "The Star of Bethlehem" by Mr. William Goudie being rewarded witli prolonged applause. The orchestral music and specialities on the Wtirlitzer organ by Mr. Emanuel Aarons also found real favour. Special mention should be made of tho short preliminary picture, "Nature's Workshop," Issued by the Government Publicity Department. It is one of the host scenic films ever produced. The box plans for the last four nights are at The Bristol and at Aitken's. At tho Do Luxe Theatre commencing Friday next, with a mattucc on Saturday ai -l.'M. will bo screened Lon Chaney's latest picture, "Mockery." Chauey plays the part ot a strange hermit-like peasant, who. through a trick of fate, is plunged into tho midst of a struggle or revolutionists against the aristocrats. Uncouth, enslaved, hounded, and tortured, he lived for his one supreme emotion an impossible love for a Russian princess, so great in its depth and magnitude that it transcended all bodily pain and mocked at his eft'orts of expression. Chaney's ' mate-up in this picture is a revelation. Iticardo Cortez and Barbara Bedford are also in the cast. Special music haa been arranged by Mr. Aaons for the Wurlltzer and for the Orchestra De Luxe. The box plans are at The Bristol Piano Co. and Altken's Book Arcade.
