RACING FIXTURES, ! December 26, 27—Dunedin J.C. December 26—WalpuKurau J.C. December 26, 27—Westland R.C. Decomber 26, 27—Taranaki J.C. December 26, 27, 20—Manawatu B.C. December 26,28, January 2, 3—Auckland K.C. Pointers from Te Awamutu. Desert Glow by his win in the Te Awamutu Cup on Saturday is likely to come more into favour for the Auckland Cup. In Phaola. and Desert Glow, F. E. Loomb ■has two likely light-weights. Desert Glow .has form, on his side over two miles, for uasfc year he finished second with 7st to :Count Cavour (8.13) in the New Zealand ; Cup, which -was run in the fast time of ,-3min 26 l-ssec. Papatu appears to have ;iun a decent race after being amongst ; the leaders in the early part of the race, ;an unusual position for him at that stage. ; flis admirers for the Cup at Ellerslie need mot lose heart. The? defeat of Aussie in :the Flying Handicap was an honourable one, for probably it will be found later :that Tea Time is an extra smart sprinter, ■although only just a recent graduate from Slacks, so that Aussie's inability to concede 321b to him was anything but a disgrace. Outside of these the two leading events at Te Awamutu did not throw much light on the Ellerslie double. Mason's Team. The team which P. V. Mason took to Auckland has great possibilities, although the horses will not do a great deal of racing. Agrion,.who is the pride of the stable, may run only once, in the Great Northern Derby. He has done exceptionally well lately, and apparently he has "thrown off the lameness which affected him prior to the Riccarton carnival. He will be a very fit horse on New Year's Day, and bearing, in mind the way in ■which he treated his opponents at Riccarton, it is hard to see how any of them is likely to turn the tables now. Eulalie lias not been given many searching gallops but she is very well. She may take on handicaps, but it will cause little surprise it she is kept specially for the Royal Stakes, which promises to be a notable event, with several other smart three-year-olds, also Childsplay is engaged. The third member of Mason's team is Golden Armour, a Leighton filly, three years old. E>he has not raced yet, but she shows a Jot of promise. Count Cavour and Crf a.tP~' ?' Gillett has great prospects with ™c three, horses he has taken to AuckJand. Count Cavour is a horse who thrives on racing, and he was not at his best when he raced at Riccarton last month, hmce then he has been steadily coming on and his last gallops before going North were accomplished in something like his real track form. In view of his moderate showing in the New Zealand Cup, there ■has been a disposition to overlook his -hllerslie prospects, but this is unwise home of his best races have been run on the Auckland course, and he may repeat them on this trip. Satrap will be a useful second string in the Auckland Cup and Jater m the meeting he has a Derby engagement. Though not representing top class, Satrap should pay his way on the ■trip. Money Order, who completes GilJett s team, has- always been a difficult horse to train, on account of unsoundness. -lie is in his best form now, and though there are some brilliant sprinters in the .Railway Handicap, Money Order will keep them all busy. Auckland Amendments. The Auckland papers of Saturday are now to hand, and in checking the telegraphed list of acceptors wtih their pubJisned lists, one or two errors and omissions are found. Great Charter (7.0) is a Lup acceptor and Limited is iv the Railway Handicap. According to the Auckland papers, Bennanee has 7.2 in the Cup and not 7.1. Money Order's correct weight m the Railway Handicap is 7.13. Rider for Taranaki Meetings. Although he had the offer o£ several rides at Ellerslie, L. Manson has decided to do.the holiday meetings in Taranaki, where he has met with a good deal of success in previous years. Some of his mounts at New Plymouth will be Golden Wedding, Baby Bun, Patrolet, Miss Mercia, and Golden ivrist. He may also bo on Town Bird, although nothing dednite has been arranged. One to Watch. • 9, ne o£ ,the improving horses at Ellerslie ■is i let, who is progressing each week. The Magpie gelding will be up against some good hacks if he runs in the Queen's Plate on Boxing Day and may get beaten, but one of the hack handicaps later at the meeting should be within his capabilities Piet should be worth watching. Odds and Ends. Comic Song appears to be working well at Wingatui, and the present weather is something in his favour. T. Metcalf has seven rides at Awapuni on Boxing Day. He had to refuse the ride on Ark Royal in the Auckland Cup.
