ROSENEATH AFFAIRS

At the last meeting of the executive committee of the Roseneath and Mount Victoria Progressive Association, matters relating to the district were dealt with. In reply to the association's request for a footpath along the Pallisev road, the council wrote that the road had been widened recently by cutting back the bank and tipping the spoil over the side. When the filling had consolidated the fence would be set back and the space providedwould form the footpath. At the request of the association, the council has taken back the'roadway at the corner. of Hawker street and Moeller street, which has removed a dangerous corner, and the chairman (Mr. R. H. Stickney) expressed the hope that the council will make an early effort to improve the approach to Palliser road, which at present is dangerous to pedestrians and vehicular traffic. The Fire Board wrote stating that the question of fire alarms and the installation of n new and modernised system is receiving the attention of the board, and that when it can deal with the new system the association's request for a fire alarm at the junction of Roseneath terrace and Palliser road will receive full consideration.
