"The Chocolate Soldier" will commence its season at the Grand Opera House on 26th December. It is one of the wittiest and most tuneful of Strauss's musical comedies. As Nadina. Miss Strella Wilson plays. It is said, one of her most successful roles. As Bumerli, the chocolate soldier, slr. Cho.rlcs is also happily cast. Miss Winifred Williamson is an attractive Aurelia, Mr. John Ralston is well placed as Popoff, Mr. Leon Darnton as Alexius, Nadlna's lover; Mr. Bernard Manning has an effective role at MassakrofT, and Miss Mabel Gibson has an important part as the mischievous and volatile Mascha. The orchestra is under Mr. Gustave Slapoffski, and the Piece is produced by Charles A. Wenman. "The Chocolate Soldier" will be produced for six nights, with a matinee on Wednesday, 28th December, and Saturday, 31st December. Following "The Chocolate Soldier" there will be a farewell presentation of Gilbert and Sullivan favourites (for one night only) as follow: —2nd January, "Ruddigore"; 3rd January, Pirates of Penzance"; 4th January, "Patience" (with matinee) ; sth January, "Yeomen of the Guard"; Oth January, "Princess Ida"- 7th January, "Gondoliers" (with matinee).
