TIMARU WOOL SALE
KEKN COMPETITION
" (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") . 'TIMARUjIoth December. The first wool sale of the season for South Canterbury opened here to-night before the largest bench of buyers which has, ever attended a Timaru wool sale. All the wool-consuming countries of the world, including Russia, were represented. Ten thousanad bales were offered, and nearly all were sold under very keen competition. Though lighter in condition than usual, owing to a superabundance of rain, the wool was in good condition and opened up attractively. Buyers considered the sale equal to the Christchurch sale, ■ though .it is generally considered that South Canterbury wools hardly reach the quality of those grown in North Canterbury. Topl price, 25% d, was paid for merino. The best price for halfbred was 24Hd, the grower of this line obtaining 20d for the clip from the same flock last year. i' ' ' The 1 following is the range of prices:—
