WAR SECRETARY'S ViWT

OBJECT EXPLAINED

(British Official Wireless.) t «. tt EUGBY, 17th November. ™llaft ?T °f Lords ' IjOti p°rester asked for the reasons for the visit to India of the War Secretary. The iarl of Onslow, replying for the Government, said that Sir Laming Worth. mgton-Evans was not going on an official visit of inspection of the British Army m India. The Government of India was entirely responsible for the British troops in India. His reason for going was that the British Army in India consisted of 60,000 officers and men. of all arms, and it must be obvious that when so large a part of the Army wag stationed in India there were many questions which concerned both the' troops in India and those in. this eoun- ?■ *ere were matters to be settled winch were not purely military. There were problems of organisation and administration, finance and policy which depended for their successful solution both here and in India, upon the closest co-operation of those connected with the government of the Army at Home and in India. He believed there would be financial savings to this country if organisation in India and in this country were brought into line.
