FUNERAL OF MR. R. TINGEY
T,W f t Une, ra\ of th° late Mr. Eiehard Tingey took place yesterday afternoon. A short service was held at the residence, Burnell avenue, by the Rev. C Ea.on, of Taranaki street' Methodist Church, of which Mr. Tingey was a trustee The eMef mourners were Messrs. E. L. Tingey, E. B. Tingev, W. H. Tingey, L. H. Tingey, S. S. Tingey (L°™)> E. C Cording (son-in-la^, £ W. Pilcher (son-in-law), D. M. PHcher(grandson), P. Tingey, and E. Tingey Wanganui, and ST. Tingey, ChristchuJeh i(nephews). The Eev. C. Eaton conducted the service at the graveside. A Masonic service was also held, Worshipful Brother Haines, W.M., of "Waterloo Lodge, officiating. The coffin was draped with the Union Jack. Amongst those present were four Maori "War veterans, namely, Sergeant James' Sandbrook, (who wore the Crimean medal of ISoo and the bar of the Siege of Sebastopol), Sergeant-Major Bezar, Private James Capper, and Private Selby. There was a representative attendance of citizens, including Sir John Luke; M.P.j Mr. W. H. Field, M.P.; Eev. D. C. Bates, president of the Maori War "Veterans' Association; representatives of the R.S.A.; Captain J. J. Clark and Mr. J. I. Goldsmith, South African veterans; Captain Henry, representing the Imperial Forces; Captain Eockstrow, representing the Defence Department; Mr. T. Wells, New Zealand Master Painters' Federation and Wellington Master Painters" Association; Messrs. C. F. Smith (secretary Methodist Church), F. W. Butcher (Pilkingtoa Bros., Ltd., St. Helens, Lanes.), W, Morton (H. Brooks and Co., London), B. A. Christie (English Wallpaper Manufacturers' Association); the staff of the head office of E. and B. Tingey, Wellington, and representatives from the Auckland, Wanganui, and Christchurch branches; Mr. J. T. Spear (Lewis Berger and Sons); Councillor W. H. Bennett, and representatives from many, business houses in the city, and Thorndon and Victoria Bowling Clubs, and the Wellington Bowling Centre. Floral tributes were received from the Women's National Eeservej Sir Douglas M'Lean, Christchurch Master Painters* Association, Wanganui Master Paint* ers' Association, Laughlan and Sou (Sydney), Wellington E.S.A., T.
