WARMER WEATHER

The warm weather • to-day is a welcome change from the unsettled conditions which have prevailed during the week, and there are prospects of a fine week-end.

The cyclone which passed southward of Cook Strait yesterday proved to bo of slight intensity, but it was responsible for dull and misty conditions and rain in many parts. (Some heavy falls occurred in districts with a westerly aspect, although Wellington only had S points of rain. Foxton reported 7i points, Wanganui 54 points, and Westport 63 points. It was still raining at Foxton at 9 a.m. to-day, and cloudy and misty conditions were in e-idence, but generally an improvement was reported. Indications are for westerly to south-westerly winds, moderate to fresh southward of New Plymouth and Castlepoint. Chiefly fair to cloudy weather is predicted, although light showers maybe .expected in scattered places.
