OBITUARY

CAPTAIN A. C. SHOWMAN

In a cablegram received by the Union Company this morning from Sydney the death was announced of Captain A. C. Showman, late of the E.M.S. Niagara.

Captain Showman wont ashore on sick leave on the last trip of the Niagara down from Vancouver, and entered a private hospital in Sydney. The news of his death will be a shock to the many friends of this popular master. > For tweiity-five years Captain Showman has occupied various positions in the Union Company, and he received his first command in October, 1909. He was born in England, and was fifty-five years of age at the time of his death.

Captain Showman was a highly respected master in the service, and he made many friends in both Australia and New Zealand during his command of the Niagara. He was married only recently, just before his illness.
