DE LUXE THEATRE.
Every emotion that man or woman is capable of ■ has been shown by medium of the dance since time immemorial. This "poetry of motion" is .beautifully shown by one of the world's great dancers, Miss Gllda Gray, ln "Cabaret," which was screened at the De Luxe Theatre last evening. for tho first time. The picture, of course, contains many things apart from dancing, but terpsichore is the central theme round which the whole story revolves. In a night club, and her exhibitions of the art show what an accomplished artist she is. When her brother is wounded as a result of a guii affray in which he kills his man, she takes him ln her arms and dances her way through the crowd to safety. The story Is excellently told, and whilo there Is much to lnin the tale which is told. An alluring side of the picture is that which shows the life of those who frequent night clubs, while some of the views of the big ballroom are distinctly fascinating. Miss Gray gives delightful ■ interpretations of the Charleston, the Hula Hula, and the even more modern "Black Bottom" Supporting the star is the prince of male leads, Tom Moore, while others in a strong cast are Chester Conklln and Mona Palmer. Tho supporting films include, a gazette in which many matters of more than topical Interest are touched upon, aeroplane flights having a very principal place. The comedy was "The Cat's Whiskers," a really humorous episode. On the musical side of the programme there are many items that charm the most critical. Mr. Emanuel Aarons, on the Wurlltzer organ plays selections from "The. Belle of New York" and "Mighty Lak a Rose," items which caused the audience to call for an encore. The orchestra played "Cavallerla Bustfcana" as an overture and the novelty entr'acte included
"Tho Black Shuffle," a dance interlude by pupils from Miss Minnie Everett's School of Dancing. The programme is beinK repeated this afternoon and will be screened again this evening and during next week.
