THE FAIRY RING.
DEAR ONES,— ' ' We were nearly going to have a new Playground ... did you know? . . . at the Thorndon end of our City. We hope we will yet, of course. There must be a wider space, a safer and less dusty place, somewhere waiting. If it had been there, it would have had to be narrow, and noisy with cars and traffic. .. . And anyhow, we love the trees. We do, and we shall more, and our little brothers and sisters are going to. ... Somehow, after, when you remember the places of your play it will not be shrubs and asphalt you will see, but trees, not gay but oldpnd very dear, with gnarled trunks and huge roots and boughs that roof the sky And you will, know them as a little bit of Wellington that you would not have been without even for your play. / Yours, ' FAIRIEL.
