PARLIAMENT
PROGRESS WITH TARIFF BILL
The greater f>art of this week in the House,.of-Representatives, if not the whole, will be occupied in making progress on the Customs Amendment Bill. The Title has been passed in the Committee stage, and to-night the remaining clauseß will come under discussion. After they are disposed of each item of the tariff schedule which has been amended will-be dealt with in turn. As there'are about 450 separate items in the schedule, it is expected that the procedure will be lengthy. Objections to the tariff changes, however, do not appear to be nearly as strong, as numerous, or as contentious as in 1921 when the last revision Bill occupied ten or twelve sitting days before the House and if members confine themselves to those clauses which they desire to see altered there is no reason why the Bill should not be passed in two or three sittings. . ■
