MEAT FOR ITALY
The Italian Government recently putchased about 18,000 tons of frozen meat for the army/9000 from an American house and 9000 from South Africa. It is reported that the South African group supplying 'the meat will in return purchase Italian goods to the value of between 3,000,000 and 5,000,000 paper lire, and 10,000,000 lire later; it also undertakes to sell a further 60 tons of frozen mea*. to the civilian population at the same price as the army sup■ply, and in addition to ship the meat on Italian' vessels.
