TOWN HALL CHARGES

NO EXTRA CHARITY RATE

For a long time past tho City Council has had the pleasure of knowing that the Town Hall and Concert Chamber have been let for many special functions at a "lighting and cleaning rate", which actually did not pay for lighting and cleaning, but ; it .has now hardened its heart, by formal resolution, and in future there will be no such "extra charity" rate..

The general charges will be £18 for the main hall and £5 for-the Concert Chamber, and the charity rates, i.e., for entertainments given in aid of charitable institutions and-the like, £10 10s and £3 3s. ' ' - '

"Everyone wanted the Town Hall at cleaning and lighting rates;"" remarked the Mayor to-tfay, "and it was very difficult to draw tho line. We have drawn'it now, and the rule -will not be departed from."
