Tho Economic Conference's recoin- , mendations in favour of a rcdnction of , tariff walls were adopted, following able" and practical speeches by M. Louchcur (Prance), - the initiator of tho Economic Conference, Major Elliott (Britain), and Dr. Brcitsciieid (Germany). , Though 'Major Elliott ' most warmlysupported a policy of freer play of eco"nomic forces, he did so specifically as applying to Europe and not to the overseas Dominions. Dr..Breitscheid said that he regretted that the recent Franco-German tariffreducing trade agreement did not embrace four or,five Powers instead of - two.
