CITY VALUER
MR..F. ST. MARTIN
Mr. P. N. Martin, at present District | Valuer in the Government Valuation , Department, has been appointed City ; Valuer at a salary of £900 per annum. / ! This position has been vacant since the retirement, of the late Mr. James Ames, the council having had an arrangement with the Government Department whereby city values were determined by the Department, but on account of pressure of other business , the Department recently advised that the arrangement could not be continued. An announcement may be made-at ■ the meeting of the council W Thursday evening in regard to the appointment:o£ the First Assistant Engineer.
