AMATEUR ATHLETICS

OLYMPIC CLUB The annual report of the Olympic Amateur Athletic Club, presented at the annual' meeting, showed that the club possessed some fine talent among both senior and junior members, part? eularly the latter. The president's trophy for most points gained for the season was won by the club captain, Colin Campbell. A very successful day meeting was held and good prizes were given. Although only a small profit resulted, the meeting brought the club before the public and gained many new members. Although the club was not successful in winning any championships, all members gave a good account of themselves and helped to make the provincial championships a success. To all who helped the clnb the executive expresses its thanks. During the off season Mr. Peter Wilson suffered a rather severe illness, but the club is gratified to know that he will be able to assist it this season as trainer. . The following officers were elected at the annual meeting:—Patron, Mr. H. Glover (re-elected); president, Mr. E. Brewin (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs. T. W. Steel, C. Whittaker, G C. Barker, E. Shaw, P. D. Lord, L. Bond, J. Hipkins, and J. Sharpest horn | secretary, Mr. B. L. Sutcliffe; hon. treasurer, Mr. C. Campbell; club captain, Mr. D. G. Paris;' delegates to the Wellington Centre, Messrs. E. Warner and D. G. Paris;- record stewards, Messrs. T. W. Steel and D. G. Paris; associate members, Messrs. L. Bathbone, W. Freach, L. M'Kay, A. T. Davies, V Hngo, E. P. Coote, 0. W. Phipson, J. Perston, J. Sceats, sen., A- B. Tracey, G. Campbell, J. Blair, J. E. Hunt, S. Walker, E. Marsden, A. E. F. Mackay, Scott, and Alex. Eobertson. The club's finance being in a healthy state, it was decided that more trophies be awarded for club competition. A scheme of coaching new to Wellington district was outlined, and it is hoped that all members would roll up at the training ground (Athletic Park) and benefit therefrom.
