KARORI SPRING SHOW
, RECORD ENTRIES
The Karori Horticultural Society held its Spring Show on Thursday. Although the weather was not of the best the, entries and attendance constitute a record, and the Show itself was in every way the most successful yet held by the society, the membership of which is now approaching 300.
The Show was opened by the patron, Councillor B. G. H. Burn, who was introduced by Mr. E. H. Harten (president). The champion narcissi bloom wag shown by a local grower, Mr. F. A. Dryden, with a fine Lord Roberta. In addition to the competitive classes of narcissi, which were well supported, there were specially large entries in the cut flowers class, notably anemones, hyaninths, polyanthus (25 entries), primroses, ranunculus, and stocks, whilat in the three vase class there werp no less than 13 entries. Amongst the pot plants cyclamen were a feature. The entries in every class showed an increase ant the inclusion of a new section (ails and crafts) met with the gratifying response ot many artistic exhibits. Leadiuj; features of the Show were line displays of narcissi by Messrs W .Slater and C. E. Buckingham (Lower Hutt); Kev^ W. W. Avery (Eltham), Messrs. C. Goodson (Hawera)/ and James •801 l (Hataitai). Messrs. Poolo and Sons and Messrs Waugh and Sons showed fine collections. Mr. H. Edwards (Lower Wutt), had a fine exhibit of pansies, and ivaron was well represented by Messrs. S lyrkmldie (cut flowers), C. F.
