V.M.C.A. GYMNASTIC CARNIVAL

Members of the Wellington, V.M.C.A. Gymnasium are confident that' the forthcoming carnival will surpass any previous carnival held by the association. The gymnasium has been a hive of industry during the past week, each of the 350 members taking part training assiduously for their respective parts in the carnival. The programme will consist of twenty items, and dull moments and monotony, which are liable to creep into displays of this kind, will be conspicuous by their absence, the programme being scheduled to go continuously. Among the many new and novel items will be the Old English Scene by the ladies' Bection, under the leadership of Miss Rene Zander, who was leader of the popular "Dutch scene" last year. The senior boys 7 gymnastic team, considered by authorities to be the best boy gymnastic combination in New Zealand, will be seen in action in the parallel bars. The senior men's group will perform on the horizontal bar, which, is the most difficult of all gymnastic apparatus. The junior girls will be Been at their best in ball-swinging and skipping. A spectacular and vivacious number will be the Toy Drum Major, a squad of young ladies in full military style, led by Miss Norma Walker, -who sings the "Toy Drum Major" whilst the squad perform calisthenics and movements with dash and precision.
