REP. GAMES

THE SEASON'S RECORD

WELLINGTON'S POOR DISPLAY

: Wellington has been engaged in comparatively few representative games this season; Early in the season the Wairarapa team was twice defeated, but on Saturday/last the local eleven went down to the country men at Carterton by 2 goals to 1. Twice the Manawatu team was to come to Wellington, but each time it was found impossible to get the players together. The Wellington team which visited Hastings "to help th> game along" in that district.found itself up against a stiffer proposition than had been realised, and was beaten by one goal. A visit to Nelson was mooted, but the Nelson Association was unable to offer a suitable date for the fixture, and it was abandoned. In the most important game of the season against Taranaki, Wellington gained a victory, but even then the visitors nearly won, ana in the second spell they dominated most of the play. Not once was the best team sent away, but nevertheless the

performances of the Wellington repre^ sontatives has beon disappointing. ,

Wellington Reps. Defeated.

In a game described by tho "Wairarapa Ago" as very fast and spectacular, Wairarapa defeated Wellington on Saturday by 2 goals to 1 at Carrington Park, Carterton. Wellington wore suporior to tho local team in field and stick work, but poor shooting resulted in their defeat: All through the first spell Wellington were in the Wairarapa territory, and many attempts were made to score, but poor shooting lost the visitors several golden opportunities. Half-timo came with no score. After the interval the Wairarapa forwards showed to better advantage, and hemmed in the Wellington playorß, giving them few chances of taking play to the Wairarapa area. A fine piece of forward play by N. Goodin put Wairarapa ahead, and another goal resulted from a corner, but was disallowed for sticks. Twice Wairarapa narrowly missed scoring, but'towards tho end of tho game Wellington attacked strongly and scored. Further efforts to equalise wore unsuccessful.

End of Season Game,

Kahtu,.a ladies' team from Otaki, defeated the Karori juniors at Karori Park on Saturday week by 2 goals to

nil, Misses Eusso and Parker scoring. The combination of the visitors was exceptionally neat, while Karori's play, on the contrary, was ineffectual and decidedly'; 'f scrappy." Bahui are to be congratulated on having the services of such a sterling player as Miss Morgan. The exhibition given by her as full-back 'would warrant her inclusion in any good, senior team. Miss Hennessy, centre-forward for the home team, played brilliantly, and was responsible for opening up the game for Karori more, than cice, but this promising individualist lacked support from her sister forwards, and consequently her efforts to piece the backline of Eahuia were futile. Miss Spier? gave a disappointing display, being ap parently unaware that she had a centre. She also lacked control Of the ball, overrunning many times. Karori's back-line was weak, and did not.seem to be able to decido when to tackle.—(Contributed by "N.P.")
