CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Strong criticism of tho Education Department's methods in regard to certain local affairs made by Mr. R. Wild, West Coast member, at Ihe Education Board meeting was followed by an attack on tho central control policy. Mr. Wild said that the boards had accepted for too long the absurd demands of tho Department, and there was an utter lack of co-operation. Tho great curse of the country was tho multiplicity of Civil servants. "Tho sooner wo do something in tho way of asserting our position the better," ho said. "We should soo if tho regulations are legal, and discover bow much of the authority which is vested in us by the Legis'.aturo has been cr/bbed illegally." A. committee was set -up to consider tho powers of education boards.
