' Wellington B defeated Marlborougb. today in good weather by 22 points 1 to.G. •The home side had the wind with them in the first half, and attacked well throughout the spell, but were not quite finished enough to end up promising movements successfully. The forwards were superior in the scrums and. line-outs, and for upwards of half an hour the visitors'were unable to" leave their territory except on one occasion, when Mackenzie concluded a nice back movement by scoring' an unconverted try. ■ Shortly afterwards, Hodson kicked a penalty for Marlborough. The final quarter was more even and Warwick, by individual play, scored, making the half-time tally:. Wellington 6, Marlborougb. In the second half the Wellington; backs got more of the ball, and picked innumerable holes in the home team's defence. Despite the fact that the visitors rattled on 16 more points, Marlborough were frequently on the attack, but only once were they able to penetrate the defence, which was when Neal scored. For Wellington, further tries were obtained by Mackenzie, Murray, Warwick, and Blacker. Myers converted two.
