With a large shipment of coal from Newcastle, the Kairanga arrived at Wellington shortly after 9 o'clock this morning, and was berthed at tho Railway Wharf. The Port Melbourne arrived at Gisborne at noon yesterday from Port Kembla to commence loading for London. Sho is to sail again on Saturday for Waikokopu. Awarua: Ikala, Karetu, City of Corinth, Tahiti, and Makura. PERSONAL. Mr. Joseph O'Brien, chief steward of the Maori, died in Lewlsham Hospital yesterday morning from a paraletic seizure. He was taken ill a week ago while asleep in the afternoon, and remained unconscious until the time of his death. Mr. O'Brien, who was single, was most popular with shipmates and the travelling public alike. He had a long period of service with the Union Company, and had been chief steward of the Maori for the last, four years. Mr. H. Spurgeon, late of the Tamahine, is now chief steward of the Maori.
