The Anglican Property Trustees have announced that they cannot comply with the request of the Christchurch City Council to.lin.ml over to tho city a ship ol land at the eastern end of the Cathedral It wns discovered some weeks uro that the claim of the church to this strip of land was doubtful.
Ihe Mayor of Christclnirch (the Rev. J. K. Archer) stated yesterday that steps were being taken to test legally the validity of the church's claim to ownership.
