FAIR DEAL WANTED
ATHLETIC CENTRE'S REQUEST
Th chairman of the Wclington Centre of the N.Z.A.A.A. (Mr. A. C. Kitto) sprang somewhat, of a surprise on the Mayor (Mr. G. A. Troup) at the farewell to Mr W. G. Kalaughcr to-day. Just before the gathering broke up lie thanked Mr. Troup for presiding, and also assured him that the Wellington Centre was willing to work in -with the City Council.-
"However," continued Mr. Kitto, "we look to get what we call a fair deal. Perhaps it is out of jlaee to refer to this matter here, bu£ I thought it was a grand opportunity, seeing that Councillors M'Villy and W. H. Bennett are here too." Year in and year out the Wellington Centre was taking boys, it niight be said right from the city playgrounds, and building them up physically and helping to make good citizens. Tho centre, therefore, expected the council "to do its bit."
Mr. G. A. Ti-oup (amidst laughter): "I don't know why I didn't use my prerogative and rule Mr. Kitto out of order. The matter ho brought up is quite foreign to the subject we have in hand."
