LONDON, 2nd August.
The match between the New Zealand cricketers and the Glamorgan eleven was completed to-day at Cardiff, before an attendance of 2000, the overseas players winning by 206 runs. Though 344 runs ahead when play opened this morning, New Zealand did not declare, M'Girr and Mills resuming at the crease and scoring steadily for a while. The latter had a lucky escape from being run out, and was only saved by Sullivan fumbling the ball. M'Girr was bowled by Clay when the New Zealander was attempting to force the pace. The seventh wicket added 56 runs in forty-five minutes, and provided excellent cricket, pleasant to witness. Lowry decided to declare when seven wickets hal fallen for 205.
Glamorgan never appeared at any j stage to be at all likely to cope with their difficult task of collecting over four hundred runs. When the luncheon adjournment arrived the local eleven had lost three wiekata for 47 runs. The Glamorgan captain, Clay, made a great effort ia scoring his initial century in first-class cricket, and was helped by Hills, the pair adding 34 for the fourth wicket. Then a. rot set in, Blunt being the most effective of the visiting bowlers, getting fnvo wickets in one, over. Clay reached .his century in 135 minutes, giving a splendid exhibition o± driving, during which he hit sixteen 4s. _ The fielding and bowling of the tourists was most keen, and many runs were saved by quicjk returns.
