AUCKLAND, This Day.

It wag said of Boderiek Gordon-Grif-fith, who was formally adjudged a bankrupt by Mr. Justice Herdman to-day, that he owed nearly £5000, and had absconded.

Counsel for the petitioning creditor stated that Gordon-Griffith had been the proprietor of the Mansions Private Hotel in Whittaker place, off Symonds street, and had run up debts, malting several expensive purchases, including probably the best motor launch in the harbour, a motor-car, and on a piano costing £750. There was still £600 ■owing. When the pressure was applied he absconded to "Wellington, and could not now be traced. It was believed ;that he had gone to Sydney. The future action of the creditors ■mil be decided after the meeting held by the Official Assignee.
