The secretary reminded the meeting that iUanawatu had negotiated earlier in the season for a match with Wellington, but had withdrawn its team after a date for the fixture had been arranged, statin" that a game would be arranged for a later date.
.The chairman- said that it was very necessary,- in view of the associations representative commitments, to know what Manawatu intended. Ihe numerous local withdrawals amon"those nominated for the tourney and New Zealand teams provoked an animated discussion, as a result of which it was decided to ask those players who withdrew to forward their reasons to the association • "-y? B'decided to arrange for a leading .third and: intermediate grade teams to play teams selected from the remainder of the players in the grades at the co»c usion of the competitions. Mr J M Abater was appointed selector for the intermediate teams and Messrs. P. Jobhn and R. Hardie Boys selectors for the third grade teams.
