With that end in view this centre susgests that the preliminary or qualifying stages of the competition, where all the competitors arc taking part, should remain as interesting as possible, having regard to the time available, but that the secondary stages should be completed in the quickest possible manner.
ihe mover of the motion uaid that he knew that the members of the council ■were keen bowlers, and had given careful consideration to tournament matters, bnt there was no doubt that many players could not afford the time required under the present conditions. He advocated an earlier application of the sudden death principle in the different contests. Another speaker said that no doubt the time had arrived for shortening the period of tho Pominion tournament. The chances under the present conditions were that three weeks wotilil be necessary to finish Hie tournament.
