NEW RULES TO OPERATE
The weekly meeting of the Management Committee was presided over by Mr. W. Corcoran.
A letter from Mr. T. V. Tuoliy concerning the selection of the North Island team for the North and South match caused considerable discussion. It was decided to write to the delegates on the N.Z. Council, stating that Wellington desired representation in the selecting. A notice of motion, to be discussed by the N.Z. Council, about the reinstatement of players was considered. Several of the delegates showed an amount of feeling with regard to the desertion of players in Wellington during the lean period. One member was of the opinion that players should be welcomed back to the fold. Letters were tabled from the Buller and Otago Leagues in connection with the proposed tour. The N.Z. Council sent a request that Wellington try out for one mouth the new play-the-bull and force-down rules, and also the rulings re the same The rules were submitted to the Keferues' Association to be put into operation. It was stated that these rules were being played in Australia, and would have a great effect in opening the game up. Care, however would have to be taken in thoroughly instructing the players, or the efiect would be to slow up the game, either uy taking up time to get into position or the awarding of penalties. The state of League Park came in for criticism. It was decided to recommend the Ground Committee to procure a quantity of sand before Saturday's games. At a subsequent meeting of the committee the request was acceded to. Discussion ensued in connection with the financial position of the centre, and a report was received which proved more satisfactory than most members anticipated. Six new players for the Albion, North, and Petone Clubs were provisionally registered.
