BOROTRA TO VISIT AUSTRALIA

Cup matches have been completed, Jeanßorotra, the French, tennis hanipion, hopes to make a busi-ii-'ss visit to Australia, his stay extending from October of this year to February, 19 2 8. Friends of his are amused at lug recent remark that he does not know whether he will take his tennis racquets with him. Hobody can imagine the "Bounding Basque" going anywhere minus his racquet and his Beret.

TJio proposed visit of Jean Borotra. to Australia, if it eventuates, will bo ii notablo event in the tennis history of tho Southern Hemisphere, and if he could bo induced to extend his journey to New Zealand it would help the game in this country to a very great extent. Borotra is 29 years old, and has won many championships in Europe. He won tho English title at "Wimbledon m 1924, was runner-up to Lacoste in 1925, winning again last year, when he defeated the American Kiiisey. This year his countryman, Henri Cochet, beat Borotra in tho final at Wimbledon, tho score being 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. Borotra has also taken a. very promin« ent part in Davis Cup tennis for some years, and was in the French team of 1925 which reached the challenge round by defeating tho Australians, Borotra beating both Gerald Patterson and J. O. Anderson.
