ROAD CYCLE RACE
PORT NICHOLSON CLUB
Members of tho Port Nicholson Road Cycling Club competed in a. 35-mil»: road race on Saturday afternoon, tha course being from the Petone Rowing Sheds to half-way between the Akatarawa and the Mangaroa hills and back again. There wore 45 entrants, a? whom 27 started and only ten finished. This was probably accounted for t>jj the bad weather. The finish was an exciting one, only fivo lengths separating the first three men. S. J. Robinson rode an exceptionally good race, his tnam-mato having left him when, he was eight or ten miles from home. H. S. Webber also rode a' good race. Thei results were:
L. J. M'Gil; (lOmin), 1, titno Ih 4« mm 43sec; A. Chinot (llmin), 2, timaj lh 45min 44sec; H. S. Webber (liming 3, time lh 45min 44 l-ssec.
The fastest times were those of H, J. Morris and R. J. Robinson, off scratch, the former covering the distance in lh 40min 57sec, and the'lattec in lh 41min 41scc.
The boys' race was postponed because of insufficient entries.
