CANADIAN ROTARIAN
ONTARIO'S AGENT-GENERAL
(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, 15th June.
Mr. William C. Noxon, AgentGeh- :- eral in Great Britain for the Canadian province of Ontario, will arrive in Auckland on 15th August by the Aorangi from Vancouver, on a brief visit to the Dominion. Mr. Noxon will bo accompanied by Mr. WilliamaStoiie, a leading banker of Toronto. . There is no more 'popular overseas representative in London than Mr. Noxon; indeed, it is no exaggeration to say that for his kindliness, sympathy, and his quiet charitable deeds, he is held in special regard by all who know him well—and his friends in London are legion. He is extremely popular at public ■ gatherings, at which, as one of Canada's foremost representatives, he is frequently seen, and he is well known to be a good after-dinner speaker. Mr. Noxon is not a politician. He was selected for his post .in 1920 because of his business qualifications. He has never sat in Parliament, nor stood for political honours.
A Canadian bom, one might describe him as a. self-made man who started in a comparatively humble way, and who now is a retired financier of means. Unfortunately, Mr. Noxon and Mr. Stone will have only about three weeks in New Zealand before going on to Australia, but the desire is, by keeping to an itinerary provided him by Sir James Parr, to see as much of the Dominion as possible. Mr. Noxon desires to see all he can of the apple orchards, of the irrigated areas of New Zealand, and of the dairy industry.
In Canada Mr. Noxon was a wellknown Eotarian, and no doubt the New Zealand clubs will wish to offer him hospitality.
