WELLINGTON BEAT HUTT.

AVellingtcm had an easy victory over Hutt by 21 ppintß to 3. The play throughout was willing, but not often very exciting. The Hutt ground was in fine order, and- the--home team kicked off facing a. glaring .sun', aiid a light. brec:w. Wellington played a superior game throughout, ! but the ' standard of , the Hutt team is improving.

The teams were:—

Hutt.—Foote; Grey, M'Dougall, Munro; Fisher, Smith; Slater; George; Sundgreen, Gordon, Daily, Turei, Peck, Langford, Forsyth.

Wellington.—Eddy; Morgan, Corless Cunningham; Hill, Johnsonj Kilby; Batchelor; Whyborn, Cleland, Gaudiu, Phillips, Giles, M'Lean, Voice.

Hiitt kicked off, and Wellington follow-ed-with a vigorous -attack. Grey, however, found.the line with a well-judged kick. ■ Wellington: soon regained the lost ground,, but again Grey stopped them with a good', kick. The Wellington forwards set up a combined-rush, and Johnson secured, passed, and Whyborn got over the line. Kilby missed the kick. 3-0. Wellington continued to attack, but several free-kicks-put Hutt on the-offensive, and Peck got away in .a rush, but the ball : was. kicked too, far for the follow up. Wclington retaliated, and a 'try seemed sure; .nit the Hutt forwards pressed through and brought play,' back to half-way. Gradually Hutt was pressed back and M'Lean snapped the ball from a scramble, and got over the line. Kilby failed to convert. . 6-0. Hutt opened with a strong attack, and a free-kick to Hutt gave Peck ah opportunity, but the ball went wide. Wellington then opened out, and Kilby secured from a "serum, passed to Johnson, who let the ball out .to Cunningham. Cunningham got over at the corner, and ran behind the posts and scored. Kilby's kick was successful. 11-0.

Wellington opened thn second half with a fast attack, and when they were

awarded a free-kick, Kilby was not equal to the occasion. Later M'Lean secured from a scrum, and passed to Cunningham, who cut in, and then let the ball out to Johnson, who scored. Kilby converted. 16-0. Hutt was again defending, but a good i»ue kick brought them up. Further ground was won, and Gordon got over for their only try. Foot's kick went wide. 16-3. It was not long before Wellington were again pressing, and Johnson secured from the ruck and added another- try. Kilby couverted, making the final score Wellington 21, Hutt 3.
