■THE SEMI-FINALS

Close mutches were seen in the semifinals of tho Hutt Wintor Cup this morning, U. A. Black beating J. L. Black after v game that was always iv doubt, and Rana Wagg, who was throo down at the seventh, squaring the gamo at tho fourteenth, and losing one down at tho twentieth to D. C. Collins. Fine golf marked the outward run of the Black brothers. Harold won the lust three holes, and standing one up at tho ninth. Prom the seventh to the twelfth the holes were halved, but at the thirteenth Harold lost his lead by pushing an iron shot out into the gorse. I lie next two were halved. J. L. Black won the sixteenth in three, Harold missing a five-foot putt for a half, making .J. L. Black one up for the first time. Harold won the next two, and finished one up.

Wagg brought Collins's lead down to one up at the turn, but Collins sank a long putt for a two at tho short water hole, and became two up again.
