BOY IMMIGRANTS
CANADIAN SCHEME
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
PALMERSTON N., 22nd July. Tbe Flock House authorities are direct* ing the attention of the Prime Minister to the details of one of the . most con». sructive of modern land setlement schemes involving the settlement of British boys in Canada. The British and Canadian Governments propose jointly to expend £1,000,000 during the next ten years in a form of recoverable advances to assist suitable British boys to. take up farming' in Cauada with the prospect of. a definite career. The new scheme aims at curtailing the period of waiting to make their own purchases of land. Boys' 21 years of age, provided they.have acquired the necessary experience and save £100, will be eligible for a cash advance not exceeding £500 for the purchase of stock and equipment. Flock House considers it to be a splendid thing for boy migrants in New Zealand. If the Prime Minister initiates a similar agreement with the Briti ish Government on behalf of the Domiu\on it will add enormously to the opportunities of English boys in New Zealand. '
