COOL WEATHER

BAROMETER SOMEWHAT UNSTEADY

Pho weather has been fair, though cloudy and misty at times in many parts of tho country. Variablo breozes havo prevailed, but little ohango in atmospheric pressure has taken place since yosterday. Tho weather has been somewhat changeable to-day, but the Dominion Meteorologist (Mr. D. C Bates) considers that there is no need for any particular anxiety about the conditions. "There may be, however," said Mr. Bates, "what is technically termed a 'col' botwocn the two high pressuro systems, which will cause temporarily unsettled weather. A short timo ago one of these cols developed to rather a serious depression, but we havo no information from tho ocean to-day that such is taking place." With tho exception of scattered showers in tho far north and in tho southernmost districts, tho general forecast predicts cool and changeable conditions, with skies cloudy to overcast at times. Iho barometer is somewhat unsteady, but it should rise agaiu after about twenty-four hours, particularly in the South. Moderate and variablo winds aro predicted for tho immediate future, but easterlies to south-easterlies arc likely to provail later. Variablo winds often account for local unsottlcment of the weathor.
