TO ECONOMIC CONFERENCE
MANY RECOMMENDATIONS

RUGBY, 22nd .June. Asked as to the Government's attitude on the recent Economic Conference at Geneva, Mr. Locker-Lampson, Under-Sccrctary of State for Foreign Affairs, stated in the House of. Commons that the British Government had been favourably impressed by a first hasty study of its conclusions, and was probably in agreement with by far the greater number of them, if not with all. in view, however, of the importance and number of the recommendations" the British Government considered that the report required careful study before it would b e safe for the CoUlltry ; w hi c]t did not wish to pledge its word and afterwards to qualify it, to give its final assent.
