IMPORTED POTATOES
PROTEST TO GOVERNMENT

ASHBURTON, This Day. Tho potato glowers of the county met last evening to protest against the importation of Tasmanian potatoes into New Zealand. A resolution was telegraphed to the Ministers of Agriculture arid Customs, emphatically protesting against the importation of Tasmanian potatoes. "If the importation continues," the resolution stated, "the growers will be forced to market their potatoes well under the cost of production. Australia prohibits New Zealand potatoes without any sound reason. In 1923 the growers here were faced with the samo unfair competition. The Commonwealth protects its small farmer; surely ours can do the same and give us British fair plaj%"
