BAD LANGUAGE
(Special to "The Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURCH, 20th June. _ "What you want is a jolly good hiding. Isn't the English language good enough for you, and everyone clso?" These remarks wero addressed by the Magistrate, Mr. Mosley, to a lad of 19 Allen Stanley Stut'hbridge, who was charged with using obscene language. A man y giving his name as Cameron, was permitted to address tho Bench on behalf of accused. He stated that ho had been asked by fellow-employees at the Addington. Workshops to plead ou behalf of the accused, who had no mother, and whose father was not in Christchurch. He had been out with a football party, and the languagj was addressed to a constable, but as Stuthbridge had not been long in the suburb ho was not aware of that.
We are asking you to suppress the boy's name," said Mr. Cameron. "It you' could stretch a point, we would be grateful for the boy's sake. If it is published he will^be dismissed." The accused was fined £3, in default fourteen days' imprisonment. In regard to the suppression of tho name, the Magistrate said that the language was so^ objectionable that he could not see his way clear ,to do it.
